LONGVIEW, Wash. -- A shooting at a Longview home left one woman dead and her husband injured Tuesday morning.Officers were called to the Highlands-area home at around 9 a.m. A brief search for a shooting suspect ended a few blocks away, where police arrested 19-year-old Anthony Scott on charges of first-degree homicide and attempted homicide.Neighbors said the gunman shot Robert Tubbs when he opened the front door and then shot Kathleen Tubbs as she ran for help. The two victims were rushed to a local hospital.Kathleen Tubbs, 45, was later pronounced dead. A hospital official said her husband, Robert Tubbs, is in satisfactory condition.
Longview police described the incident as a domestic dispute, and neighbors said the suspect is the former boyfriend of the victims' daughter. The shooting happened on 24th street in the Highlands area of Longview. A neighbor across the street said she saw a young man approach the house and heard the shots."A guy comes walking up, who goes to the blue house all the time, knocks on the door, like really loud, then I heard two gunshots, and, bang! Bang! and then, 'Oh my god! Oh my god!' and then another shot," said Cassandra Carr who lives across the street.Several neighbors said Scott had apparently come looking for the couple's daughter and found the parents instead."Intentions, I was told, was to kill his girlfriend. Father opened the door, guy pulled a gun, father raised his arm, he was shot through the arm," neighbor Lee House said. They arrested Scott later about a mile from the scene.Longview police are continuing their investigation. There's no word on a motive for the shooting.
