LONGVIEW, Wash. -- A Castle Rock police officer rescued a woman from her burning home in Longview on Saturday.Officer Charley Worley was driving to work when he saw smoke coming from the home on Maple Street. Neighbors told Worley they thought the woman who lived there was still inside.Worley broke down the door and, with the help of neighbors, rushed the woman out of the home."I started knocking on windows, knocking on doors, trying to make a commotion," Worley said. "The flames were getting intense -- there were a couple of small explosions from I don't know what, and so I figured if there's someone in there, I gotta get them out."
Firefighters arrived within three minutes of the 911 call and found fire in the attic above the garage. They were able to prevent it from spreading.A total of 20 firefighters were called to the fire.Neighbors said Worley's actions were admirable."That was pretty cool," said J.J. Patching, a neighbor. "I think he's a courageous, brave man who knows what he's doing. I hope I could be like that some day."Officials believe a wall heater sparked the fire.
