BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Two Beaverton families were displaced by a duplex fire Monday night.Firefighters were called to the 14400 block of Barlow Road just after 11:30 p.m. They found heavy fire in the back of one unit in the two-story townhome duplex. Two adults and three children were inside the burning duplex unit. They were able to escape and warn their neighbor and her three children."Well, I just heard a knock on the door and it was my neighbor letting me know that there was a fire," said Amanda Robinson. "I ran upstairs, grabbed my kids, grabbed the pets and ran out of the house as fast we could."
While crews aggressively attacked the fire to stop it from spreading, Robinson said she considers her apartment unlivable. The fire left debris, melted toys and a burned bicycle littered in the home."I can't move any of the doors, can't get in any of the rooms," she said. "(It's) just shocking."Robinson said she does not have renter's insurance. In all, three adults and six children were displaced. The American Red Cross was called in to help the families.Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire. There were no injuries and it's unknown how much damage the fire caused.
