KEIZER, Ore. -- Workers at a local carwash were on edge after a thief ripped them off Monday. The burglar walked into John's Car Wash on River Road in Keizer on Monday afternoon and the crime was caught on camera. The attorney who represents the carwash chain said this thief didn't just try to steal from the John's Car Wash in Keizer. The day after he ripped off the Keizer location he was spotted casing the chain's car wash in South Salem. The burglary in Keizer happened while an employee was washing down the parking lot just a few feet away.Surveillance video captured images of the man first trying to get into the cash register but after fumbling around with it for a few seconds he gives up.Next, while the man was rifling through an employee's wallet the surveillance camera picked up a very clear shot of the thief.People who work at nearby stores recognized the man when showed the pictures.Workers said it's a reminder of just how careful they need to be."We greet every customer in the door, and when there's more than one person in the store we make sure we have two people out here at all times," said Aaron Wert who works nearby. The man only got about $16 in cash from the employees wallet, police said.Police asked anyone who recognizes the thief to contact them.
