The Coast Guard suspended its search Sunday for a missing man on the Oregon Coast.

Deanna Feey told authorities she and 25-year-old Sokhak Peng were hiking near Cannon Beach when a wave suddenly knocked them off some rocks and into the rough seas.

A rescue swimmer helped hoist Feey into the helicopter, but Peng disappeared, the Coast Guard said.

Michael McDonald said he saw the Coast Guard helicopter circling the area and searching for Peng.

"(A diver) was on the edge of the helicopter and had his fins on, scuba gear on and was ready to jump in if he had seen anybody," McDonald said.

On Sunday afternoon, visibility was 5 miles with light winds and 4-foot seas. The water temperature was about 53 degrees. Crews scoured the area for four hours before calling off the search.

There are no details on Feey's condition, but she was not seriously hurt, according to the Coast Guard.
