BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A high-speed chase ended when a driver slammed his SUV through a Jack in the Box restaurant, police said.Mitzy Macias, who works at the restaurant, said the police chase came to an abrupt end inside the restaurant at about 5:30 p.m.Macias called 911 to alert police, but officers already knew about the crash. In fact, they were already at the scene after chasing the driver for roughly 15 minutes, officers said.Witnesses said the chase began when they saw the driver weaving in and out of traffic in Aloha. Police called off the chase when it reached dangerous speeds, but a Washington County deputy spotted the driver again along Cedar Hills Boulevard. The driver sped away and crashed the Ford Explorer into the Jack in the Box, police said."We heard noise and we looked over," Macias said. "The truck just smashed through the windows and everything just flew over from the left side to the right side. All the tables, all the trash, everything, it just flew."Police said the driver tried to escape and had to be shocked with a Taser to be taken into custody.
When Macias called her manager to tell him what happened to the restaurant, she said he asked if she could keep the restaurant's drive-thru open. Not so much, Macias said."I don't think that would be able to happen," Macias. "(The damage) was so much bigger than he anticipated."The crash injured one woman, who was taken to the hospital with an injured leg.The driver was also taken to a hospital to be treated after the crash. There's no word on what charges he'll face in connection with the crash.Photo courtesy of Washington County Sheriff's Office
