SALEM, Ore. -- Salem police used crime scene evidence to link a burglary at a Macy's store to a man already in jail.Detectives said Darren Turner, 31, entered the Macy's store in downtown Salem through the unlocked front doors and stole several items on Sept. 17. An alarm sounded at 3:30 a.m., alerting officers of the burglary, according to police.Police worked with loss prevention officers and submitted evidence to the Salem Police Crime Laboratory, where Turner was identified as a suspect in the case.Officers spoke to Turner on Monday at the Marion County Jail, where he was already in custody on unrelated charges. He was interviewed and then arrested on burglary and theft charges.Police said they found a watch stolen from Macy's in his property at the jail.
