Fisherman Found Body, Deputies Say

POSTED: 6:42 am PST January 1, 2009
UPDATED: 7:09 pm PST January 1, 2009

A Columbia River fisherman discovered a man's body in the water Wednesday, and authorities are treating the death as a homicide.

The body was found near the Willow Grove boat launch, about 4 miles west of Longview, Wash., on Wednesday morning.

Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office detectives and the coroner have launched an investigation into the man's death. They spent most of Wednesday surveying the scene.

On Thursday, deputies identified the man as 26-year-old Jeremy McLean, of Longview. His parents reported him missing Monday night.

The sheriff's office declined to release the results of an autopsy performed Thursday, saying it might jeopardize the homicide investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Cowlitz County tip line at 360-423-1206.
