A man robbed a bakery in a strip mall along 99W at about 7:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve, police said.

Officers responded to a call about a robbery at Salvador's Bakery at 13185 SW Pacific Highway at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, said Jim Wolf of the Tigard Police Department.

The robber entered the bakery, walked up to the cash register and pulled a handgun out as he demanded that the woman who was working behind the counter quickly give him money, Wolf said.

The woman put money in a gray bank bag the robber handed her, and the man ran out of the store. Police searched the area with a K-9 unit but didn't find the robber.

Officers said there were several customers and another employee in the bakery during the robbery, but no one was hurt.

The robber is described as a Hispanic man about 20 to 25 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, a black hat and pants with a red bandana covering the bottom half of his face.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call Tigard Police Detective David Hockin at 503-718-2553.
