Man Robs Bakery With Handgun

TIGARD, Ore. -- A man robbed a bakery in a strip mall along 99W at about 7:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve, police said.Officers responded to a call about a robbery at Salvador's Bakery at 13185 SW Pacific Highway at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, said Jim Wolf of the Tigard Police Department.The robber entered the bakery, walked up to the cash register and pulled a handgun out as he demanded that the woman who was working behind the counter quickly give him money, Wolf said.The woman put money in a gray bank bag the robber handed her, and the man ran out of the store. Police searched the area with a K-9 unit but didn't find the robber.Officers said there were several customers and another employee in the bakery during the robbery, but no one was hurt.The robber is described as a Hispanic man about 20 to 25 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, a black hat and pants with a red bandana covering the bottom half of his face.Anyone with information about the robbery should call Tigard Police Detective David Hockin at 503-718-2553.
