LONGVIEW, Wash. -- A man is asking for the public's help finding a dognapper who he said stole five purebred pit bull puppies worth hundreds of dollars on New Year's Day.Bobby Clegg said he fears the puppies may not be safe and wants them brought back home.Clegg said someone came into his back yard in Longview on New Year's morning and stole five puppies from the pen.Clegg's dog had 13 pups about seven weeks ago and all of them were doing well until the theft. On Monday, Clegg said one of the stolen puppies turned up down the road at a neighbor's house, but he's worried the other four may not be well taken care of.Clegg said the dogs are worth about $100 each and he wants them back because he needs the money."I was pretty upset. I want my puppies to go to good homes, and this area is not known as a good area. So if they have to steal them, they probably can't take care of them right," Clegg said.He said some of the pups are tan and two are grey but all have white tipped tails and feet. He's offering a reward. Anyone who has information should call the Longview police.
