A man walked into a sheriff's office, asked what it would take to get arrested, then walked outside and slammed his car into a patrol car, deputies said.

Talvinder Singh, 26, walked into the Washington County Sheriff's Office East Precinct at 3700 SW Murray Road at about 11:45 a.m. Friday and asked about driving crimes, deputies said.

Office staff told Singh he should contact dispatchers in order to talk to a deputy and Singh left, deputies said.

A few minutes later, sheriff's office employees watched as Singh drove his 2001 silver Honda Civic into the parking lot right into a patrol car's left front bumper, deputies said.

"In my 12 years with the sheriff's office, I've never heard of anyone taking their personal vehicle and crashing it into a parked patrol car," Washington County Sheriff Sgt. Vance Stimler said. "From time to time we have somebody that's intoxicated that hits a patrol car on the side of the road during a traffic accident, but never in a parking lot."

Singh spoke to deputies who called in the Portland Bomb Squad to check out the car but nothing suspicious was found, deputies said.

Singh was arrested and taken to Washington County Jail on criminal mischief charges. He didn't say why he rammed the patrol car.

Murray Road was closed for about an hour as police and deputies investigated.
