'Bored' Man Accused Of Walking Out On Jury Duty

UPDATED: 8:05 pm PDT May 19, 2009

A Hillsboro man who told officers he left jury duty because he was bored made his first court appearance Tuesday.

Grant Faber walked away from jury duty earlier this month, police said. A Washington County judge then issued a warrant for Faber's arrest when he didn't return from lunch break.

Police later arrested Faber at his Hillsboro home on a charge of contempt of court.

Faber could spend six months in jail if found guilty; however, jail time is typically dropped if civic duty is completed.

Faber did not want to speak with reporters when he showed up for court Tuesday.

During the arraignment, he said he planned to apply for a court-appointed attorney.

Faber will appear again in court June 15 for a second hearing.
