A sixth-grade teacher at a Silverton school was arrested Tuesday on charges she had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy.

Susan Alderson, a 46-year-old teacher at Robert Frost Elementary School, was arrested after a search warrant was served at her home in Salem.

Alderson is alleged to have had an ongoing sexual relationship with the boy between 2002 and 2006. The boy was 13 years old when the sexual abuse began, Salem police said.

The alleged victim came forward last month, police said. He was not one of Alderson's students, but police said one of the alleged incidents did happen in Alderson's classroom.

Police said they booked Alderson into the Marion County Correctional Facility on charges of rape, sodomy and sex abuse. She is scheduled to appear in court July 1.

Anyone who may have more information on the case is asked to call Detective Mike Bennett at 503-588-6050 ext. 7162.
