5 Arrested In Fred Meyer Robbery

HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. -- Five young men were taken into custody in connection with the theft of $1,000 worth of Blu-ray videos from a Fred Meyer store.A surveillance system at the Fred Meyer on 82nd Avenue and Johnson Creek Boulevard caught the men on camera Wednesday night, deputies said. At around 10:30 p.m., five men grabbed numerous Blu-ray video discs and then took off without paying for them, detectives said. A store security officer tried to stop the men, but deputies said one of the men threatened the officer with a gun.No shots were fired and there were no injuries during the confrontation.About six minutes later, a Portland police officer spotted one of the suspects, deputies said, and they arrested him near 82nd Avenue and Clatsop Street. The 17-year-old boy is now being held in connection with the crime.The remaining suspects were taken into custody in less than 24 hours.Related:
