SWAT Action Nets 3 Accused Of Kidnapping

POSTED: 5:44 pm PDT July 1, 2009

Three men were arrested in connection with a kidnapping after a standoff with a SWAT team that lasted several hours, police said.

A Clark County sheriff's deputy spotted a 1987 Blue Ford LTD station wagon in the 5500 block of Northeast 66th Avenue that matched the description of a car involved in a kidnapping, assault and robbery in Pacific County on Monday.

Vancouver police surrounded two houses in the area and called in SWAT teams.

"(There was) SWAT everywhere, snipers, everything. I mean there's been police here since nine this morning. Surrounding our house, our neighbors' houses," neighbor Dave Dowell said.

Police managed to arrest Eric M Elliser, 28, Shane T. Mckittrick, 27, and Mark M. Stredicke, 32, on charges of kidnapping, assault, robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon but weren't sure whether there were more people in the homes, officers said.

"They came around behind the houses, and that's where they found one of the suspects, trying to come out the back door," Dowell said.

Police ordered the immediate neighbors to stay inside their homes while officers made sure the two houses were empty. Neighbors waited to go in or out for several hours before police declared both houses clear just after 1:30 p.m.
