A fare inspector was attacked at a Beaverton MAX stop Sunday after he requested to see a man's ticket, police said.

The TriMet employee was injured when he was hit and knocked to the ground by the attacker, said Sgt. Jim Shumway of the Beaverton Police Department. Officers from the Beaverton Police Department were called to the MAX stop at Beaverton Central at 5:18 p.m.

They used K-9s to search for the attacker, who police said they later identified as 35-year-old Bragonia Anderson.

The victim, who has worked for TriMet for 28 years, is being treated for his injuries at St. Vincent Medical Center. Shumway said the fare inspector suffered a broken collar bone when he fell.

One person who was near the scene said it was chaotic.

"All I saw was the ambulance coming to get the guy and police everywhere, looking for the bad guy. I missed my train," a witness named Melodie said.

After Sunday night's assault, the platform was filled with police who scoured the area to search for Anderson, police said.

Anderson is described as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 215 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, gray shorts and black-and-white shoes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 503-629-0111.
TriMet spokeswoman Bekki Witt said most of the fare inspector's injuries occurred when he fell to the ground. The fare inspector's name has not been released by the transit agency.
