A reckless driver led officers on a brief chase through the Corbett area and Troutdale, reaching speeds of 80 mph before the pursuit ended on a dead-end road, police said.

Officers tried to stop the driver at the Troutdale Bridge and Columbia River Highway at about 12:30 p.m. on Monday. A police dashcam showed officers trying to stop the car, but police said the driver ignored the lights and sirens and sped away.

Police said Joseph Beard, of Sandy, drove through the Corbett area and Troutdale, but officers used stop sticks on a dead-end road and arrested him.

The pursuit lasted about eight minutes after reckless driving was first reported near 257th Drive and Columbia River Highway.

No one was injured and Beard was booked into jail on charges of reckless driving and attempting to elude police. He also had outstanding felony warrants, police said.
