SALEM, Ore. -- A woman who worked for a rural fire district is accused of stealing thousands of dollars.Heather Ritchie was an office administrator for the Idanha-Detroit Rural Fire Protection District for three years. She left the job in July.Investigators believe she stole more than $10,000 dollars in property from the fire district.Ritchie was in court Monday and faces charges of first-degree aggravated theft and official misconduct.This district is a firefighting force comprised of volunteers, except for Ritchie's former job. She had the only paid position in the department, investigators said.More charges are likely, investigators said, and Ritchie will return to court Oct. 8.
