The Portland Trail Blazers signed free agent Juwan Howard on Thursday to a one-year contract.

Howard, a 6-foot-9 power forward, has played for six NBA teams in his 15-year NBA career, in which he averaged 14.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

A member of the "Fab Five" at the University of Michigan, Howard was drafted by the Washington Bullets in the 1994 NBA draft. He went on to play for Dallas, Denver, Orlando, Houston and Charlotte. He played in the All-Star game in 1996.

Howard is 36 years old. Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard said the forward will bring a "wealth of experience" to a young Blazers team.

Howard will wear No. 6 for Portland. Terms of his contract were not disclosed.
