HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A taxi passenger stabbed his friend and then attempted to stab the driver during a trip to the coast Tuesday, the driver said.Cab driver Brian Alcorn said passenger Kent Docken was in the backseat of his taxi and his friend, John Keinonen, was in the front. Keinonen had provided $250 cash upfront for the pair to go to the coast, Alcorn said.Alcorn said Docken, who had been drunk and passed out, suddenly attacked his friend while the cab was on Highway 6. Docken then tried to stab him, Alcorn said."John, the passenger, was irritated that his former friend had passed out and didn't enjoy the experience. He really wanted to take everybody down there and have a crab omelet at a restaurant in Garibaldi," Alcorn said. After the stabbing, Alcorn said he didn’t have cell phone reception and the stabbed passenger was bleeding from a chest wound. Docken, who had two daggers, climbed out the back window after Alcorn sprayed him in the face with mace, Alcorn said."(Docken) never showed any signs of aggression or coherence, as far as knowing where he was or what he was doing," Alcorn said.Alcorn said he flagged down a state forestry department truck from Forest Grove. The driver used a two-way radio to call for help and Tillamook County Sheriff's deputies arrived.Keinonen was taken by Life Flight helicopter to a hospital. Alcorn was not seriously hurt.A Pacificab Company representative said they did not learn about the incident until Wednesday morning when Alcorn called in about work."There was no robbery there; nothing about any money," said Steve Love of Pacificab Company.Alcorn returned to work Thursday morning. He is assisting sheriff's deputies and a Tillamook County grand jury in the investigation.
