PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Portland man turned himself in Sunday after he was involved in a violent hit-and-run crash, police said.Quandrell Dumas ran a stop sign at about 1:30 a.m. before his car collided with a van, critically injuring its 29-year-old driver, according to the Portland Police Bureau.Officers said Dumas ran from the scene on foot and left a damaged car on someone's porch in the 3200 block of Northeast 33rd Avenue.Dumas later showed up at the northeast police precinct to turn himself in. He was booked on charges of reckless driving and assault.The victim, Jared Sletager, of Seattle, is currently at Legacy Emanuel Hospital. Authorities expect him to survive.A man who lives nearby described the crash as the worst he had ever seen."You didn't have to be trained in accident forensics or anything like that to understand that it was a high-speed hard impact," said neighbor Scott Rider.
