Gresham police have identified a 39-year-old man whose body was found in brush on the property of Mount Hood Community College.

Officers were called to investigate near the school at 10:42 a.m. Monday.

Police said an employee with the Army Corp of Engineers was working in the area and found the body along a trail to Beaver Creek.

A Gresham police spokesman identified the body as that of Michael Porter. Police said Porter was a transient and it's unknown why he was in the Gresham area.

The medical examiner performed an autopsy Tuesday but could not find any obvious cause of death.

No foul play is suspected in Porter's death and police said exposure to the elements was likely a contributing factor.

The body was found east of SE Stark Street, between Troutdale Road and NE Kane Drive.

A woman who works nearby saw police working in a wooded area.

"They were parked on the left side of the street and you could see a big area taped off with the caution tape and they were walking into the woods," Katherine Forner said.
