Sean Guard beat incumbent Stacee Sellers in a landslide victory for Washougal mayor, The Columbian newspaper reported Tuesday.

Preliminary election results in Washougal showed Guard taking a decisive lead over Sellers.

At 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Guard had 72 percent of the vote and Sellers had 27 percent, according to Clark County Elections.

Questions over the mayor's expenses added fuel to the race.

Guard raised concerns about Sellers' expenses, including money for meals and the use of her city-paid cell phone.

Sellers said in a statement that she is indeed fiscally responsible and has created a better community in Washougal since taking the office in 2005.
