A man who lives in north Portland was shot after people broke into his home Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers were called to the shooting in the 9400 block of North Bristol Street at 6:15 a.m. The 44-year-old victim told police that a number of people had broken into the house before he was shot.

Police searched the area for the intruders, but they were unable to find them. No arrests have been made and Portland police said they're still investigating.

The name of the victim has not been released. His injuries are non-life-threatening, police said.

A neighbor said he often saw visitors at the victim's house.

"They always have people coming over. It doesn't strike me as a drug house. It just strikes me as a group of older adults who are pretty active," said Sherman Janes.

Janes said he isn't concerned for his safety after the shooting.

"I definitely don't think this was a random act. I think what went on was very specific to that house. So, I don't feel in danger in any sort of way," Janes said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Portland police.
