Two teenage girls were injured in a crash after they climbed onto the hood of a friend's pickup truck for a ride Tuesday, police said.

Marisela Parocua, 19, allowed a 14-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman to ride on the hood as she drove around the parking lot of a Safeway grocery store at 12:22 a.m., said Sgt. David LeDay in a Keizer police news release.

While driving, Parocua crashed the pickup truck into a light pole, LeDay said. The impact of the crash caused the teenagers to be thrown from the hood of the truck and they landed on asphalt several feet away, according to police.

LeDay said 18-year-old Ashley Hudson and the 14-year-old girl were taken to Salem Hospital to be treated. The extent of their injuries unknown, but they're not life-threatening, according to Keizer police.

Parocua was not hurt in the wreck.

No criminal charges have been filed in the case and Keizer police said they're still completing an investigation.
