VANCOUVER, Wash. -- A man was attacked and robbed just feet away from a Vancouver police station Tuesday night, officers said. The attacker punched the victim in the face, police said, and the injured man then walked into Vancouver Police Department's West Precinct dripping in blood.People living near the police station, located along Northeast Stapleton Road, said they should feel safe with officers close by, but they don't."(It's) really scary and upsetting because you can't even walk anymore (without) having something happen to you. It's not even safe out here anymore," said Paula Trevino.Despite the attack, major crime is down in Vancouver. At a community meeting Wednesday night, police officers said auto theft is declining. However, some crimes, such as domestic violence, are rising. Some residents said they are worried about the violence.Daniel Silva said crime in the neighborhood started off small and has intensified."It's going to get worse. It's going to get worse," Silva said.Police said they are interviewing people who witnessed the attack. Anyone with information is asked to call Vancouver police.
