TERREBONNE, Ore. -- Deputies in central Oregon arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of his 14-year-old cousin at a hunting camp in Terrebonne.Justin Butler, of Culver, was sleeping in a motorhome Sunday with his brother, father and a family friend when gunshots were fired at about 3 a.m., deputies said.Allen Schopper, another family friend, was sleeping in a pickup truck outside and, after hearing the shots, couldn't fall back asleep and went into the motorhome to warm up.The people in the motorhome turned on the lights and saw that the gunshots had hit Butler, deputies said. Family members then called 911. When deputies arrived, they found Butler dead with a gunshot wound to the head.Crook County deputies launched an investigation and recovered two rounds from a rifle near the scene. After interviewing several people, investigators served a search warrant on a car belonging to Brandon Hornseth, who is Butler's cousin. Hornseth is also a hired hand on the Butler family's ranch, deputies said.Inside the car, deputies found a rifle believed to have been used in the shooting, according to the sheriff's office. Hornseth was subsequently arrested on charges of first-degree manslaughter, five counts of reckless endangering and five counts of pointing a firearm at another person.Deputies are still investigating.
