YACHATS, Ore. -- The Coast Guard is searching for two missing fishermen near the coastal town of Yachats.

Officials said 62-year-old Bill Bodewig and 23-year-old Nic Lutz were reported missing late Wednesday night to the Lane County Sheriff's Office.

A Coast Guard helicopter searched at first light Thursday and discovered a fishing pole and two backpacks in the area where the fishermen were last reported to be.

Lane County deputies have started to search on the ground in the area.

Vodewick was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black jacket. Lutz was last seen in camouflage hip waders and a camouflage jacket. Their vehicle has been found in the area.
