GRESHAM, Ore. -- TriMet has identified a man struck and killed by a MAX train Sunday night near Gresham's City Hall.Jose Lopez Rodriguez, 55, planned to board an eastbound train and ran in front of an approaching westbound train, said TriMet spokeswoman Mary Fetsch. He either tripped or fell and became trapped under the train as it came to a grinding halt, according to witnesses.Police said there were passengers on board the train when the accident occurred at about 8 p.m. The train had to be moved to allow police to remove Lopez Rodriguez's body from the tracks.Adriana Moylett, who witnessed the incident, said she saw the body."I honestly thought they had taken the body away, but when I saw (him) just laying there, I was like, 'Oh my goodness.' That could have been someone's family member," Moylett said.Other witnesses described it as a gruesome scene."We saw about eight firefighters push the MAX back and then they were slowly covering the body so no one else could see," said witness Brittany Gwyn.
