CANNON BEACH, Ore. -- A two-alarm fire caused significant damage to a popular beachfront hotel in Cannon Beach on Tuesday morning.

Fire broke out at the Tolovana Inn at about 7:30 a.m. Cannon Beach, Gearhart, Nehalem and Seaside firefighters were called to the inn to fight the blaze.

The fire started on the third floor of one of the inn's five buildings and crews were eventually able to extinguish it. Investigators were making sure the damaged building was stable enough before they entered to determine the cause of the blaze.

Tolovana Inn is located south of downtown Cannon Beach on Oregon's coastline and has been a destination for beach getaways for decades.

It is the second fire reported at the inn this year. In January, a fire damaged one of the inn's five buildings and led to evacuations.
