Surveillance video from a Beaverton store caught a man smashing his SUV into a back door and grabbing two flat-screen TVs over the weekend.

The thief was seen pulling up to Standard TV and Appliance on Hall Boulevard in Beaverton before the store opened at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. He peered inside the store and then repeatedly backed his SUV into the delivery door.

Once the glass shattered, he crawled through and stole two TVs.

Employees said they don't believe the theft was an inside job because the man didn't look familiar and no one recognized the SUV.

"It seemed it was a lot of work at a very high risk of getting caught," said Owen Turley, a salesman at Standard TV and Appliance.

The stolen merchandise was worth $2,800.

Store workers said the building is equipped with security measures, including an alarm, but that didn’t stop the brazen thief.

"It makes you feel a little more weary. Is my car OK? Are families around here OK? So, it kind of put us all on edge," Turley said.

Police said the thief's car was a brown, late 90s Chevy Tahoe or a similar type of SUV.

Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call Beaverton police.
