Two men attacked a cyclist who was cutting through a Beaverton park early Tuesday morning, police said.

The victim, who wanted to be identified only as Julian, was riding through Evelyn Schiffler Memorial Park at about 1:30 a.m. when two men approached him and asked to borrow a lighter.

As he stopped to find a lighter, Julian was hit on the head with a metal object, police said.

The men then started punching him and threatened more violence, the victim said.

"I turned my head around and there was a knife. He had it pointed at my throat and he said he was going to cut me if I didn't give him what was in my pockets," Julian said.

The attackers stole $90.

Julian suffered minor injuries.

Police described one of the men as dark-skinned, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall to 6 feet tall, with a medium build and short hair. He was seen wearing dark-colored pants.

The other man was Hispanic, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build and brown hair down to his ears. He was seen wearing black or blue pants and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call Beaverton police.
