BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Two women were arrested over the weekend on allegations they used their children to help them shoplift Paris Hilton brand perfume from Kmart.Beaverton police said Debra Lucero and Tina Gomez had their three children watch for store security Saturday while they grabbed cosmetics at the Kmart on Southwest Murray Boulevard.According to police, the pair stuffed mascara and perfume into a hat. Officers also said one of the women hid in a bathroom stall with one of the children and flushed the security tags down the toilet. The store's security officers stopped the women when they walked out without paying, police said. Officers then took them into custody on theft charges."To do it for perfume and mascara, I mean, makeup items. It's not even someone who said, 'I'm desperate to feed my children,'" said Susan Martin, who was shopping at the store Monday. "It was for beauty products."Police did not release the ages of the children or specify whether they belong to Lucero or Gomez. Shoppers at the store Monday said the children's involvement is upsetting."I'm shocked. I mean, I'm a mother of two and it just makes me think. How can these women do this?" said shopper Daniela Perez. The two women live in the same Beaverton home. Lucero and Gomez were not in jail Monday, but no one could be reached for comment at the house.
