THE DALLES, Ore. -- The daughters of a man who died after being severely beaten are asking the public for help in solving their father's killing.Authorities said 66-year-old Richard Niezgoda was found beaten and unconscious Sunday morning inside his home in The Dalles. He was taken by Life Flight helicopter to a hospital but died of severe head trauma Monday night. The death is being investigating as a homicide. So far, police said, no one has been arrested.Shey Sanchez, one of the victim's daughters, said her father was a good man."If anyone knows anything, step forward. Do the right thing. He was an old man. He didn't deserve it," Sanchez said.Neither of the victim's daughters said they had talked with their father in years, but they don't believe he would provoke anyone."We had a good upbringing with him," Sanchez said. "He chose a different lifestyle, but he was harmless to anybody."Shirley Christiansen lives nearby and said she doesn't think the attack was random."I think it's somebody he knew, would be my guess. But why? I don't know, because I never see him out of that trailer," Christiansen said.Other neighbors said they are on edge after the killing."There's a lot of people who are scared to let their kids even out of the trailers," said Teresa Wuorenma.Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to contact the Wasco County Sheriff's Office.
