Police: Dennis Anderson Assaulted Officer During Arrest

KELSO, Wash. -- A teenager was arrested Wednesday on suspicion he stabbed a woman during a botched robbery.Surveillance video captured 18-year-old Dennis Anderson approaching the woman at about 8 p.m. Friday outside a Kelso motel located in the 500 block of Three Rivers Drive. He got into a fight with the woman, police said, and stabbed her in the chest.The victim managed to walk to the nearby Guesthouse Inn for help and was taken to a hospital.As part of the investigation, police said they enhanced the surveillance video and a patrol officer recognized the suspect.On Wednesday, the victim also identified Anderson from her hospital bed and police went to a south Kelso house to arrest him at about 3 p.m.The suspect was cooperating, Kelso police said, until a detective tried to take him into custody. Anderson attempted to run past a police captain who was blocking the doorway. Officers said the two fought for several minutes.Officers said the suspect was taken into custody and later confessed to attempted robbery and first-degree assault. Anderson's bail is set at $350,000.Kelso police have not identified the victim, who is still hospitalized for her injuries
