ALBANY, Ore. -- A search at an Albany apartment turned up drugs, guns and a homemade silencer Wednesday, police said.Albany police officers said they were called to the apartment on Seventh Avenue and Broadway Street after a report neighbor Pad Monroe may have inadvertently led police straight to the stash.Monroe said he saw two men walking toward an apartment with assault rifles Wednesday night, leading him to alert the apartment complex manager because he feared a crime was about to take place.Albany police officers were called to the apartment and they soon learned the men carrying the guns lived at the complex.Investigators said the men then allowed police to search their home. That's when police discovered eight marijuana plants, five guns, methamphetamine, drug records, a knife and a homemade silencer."They had several plastic bags full of stuff. I don’t know how many guns or anything but I know there was several guns taken out of there,"Monroe said the drug and gun seizure comes as a surprise because the apartment in question is typically quiet."The guy that lives there has been there for awhile and I wouldn't have expected that from him," Monroe said.Mary Grimes, who lives nearby, said she noticed "a lot of traffic coming and going" from the apartment. The two men who were carrying the rifles were not arrested or charged with a crime. Instead, police have forwarded their case to the district attorney's office for review. That decision didn't sit well with Monroe."The people weren't even made to leave or taken out of here," Monroe said. "That seems odd to me."
