Five people were arrested after a police search turned up more than 20 marijuana plants and several weapons on a Salem property, deputies said.

Polk County deputies said SWAT teams secured the home and surrounding area, located in the 2000 block of Wallace Road Northwest, at about 5:15 a.m. Friday.

Detectives said they found 23 marijuana plants, four pistols, two rifles, one shotgun, 2,000 methadone tables, 0.25 ounce of heroin and undetermined amounts of Viocodin and OxyContin.

Police officers, an interagency narcotics team and federal agents searched several buildings on the property, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said Adam Wendt, Raymond Nichols, Kenneth Hunt, Candace Harry and Gerald Owen were arrested on drug charges and booked at the Polk County Jail.

Three others were cited for unlawful possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana, sheriff's deputies said.
