Low-Cost Activities For Children During Spring Break

The Police Activities League (PAL) Youth Center located at 424 Northeast 172nd is bustling with activity as the hub for Safe Haven Spring Break activities in Multnomah County.

The youth center will offer activities for youth from 3rd – 12th grade during Spring Break holidays both on and off site. The center, which is open from 2:30 – 7p.m. during regular school sessions, will be open from March 26-30, 2007, 10:00a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Youth who plan to attend daily Spring Break programs are encourage to pack a lunch and snacks. The cost for non-PAL members attending during Spring Break is $5.

Children want to join the Center after Spring Break can apply their $5 toward a membership which costs $25 for the school year for those who qualify for free or reduced lunch, or $50 for others.

Special activities include pool tournaments, arts & crafts, board game tournaments, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, football competitions and field trips such as sledding, and attending a Blazer game in the Rose Garden.

PAL's Teen Scene Program will offer activities specifically for 14- to 17-year-olds including XBOX tournaments and a special teen night on Friday, March 23, from 7:30 – 10 p.m.

Beaverton PAL, located at 12500 Southwesst Allen Boulevard, will offer a special week-long camp, March 26-30, from 8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. for $50. Drop in activities will also be available to center members from 1 – 6 p.m. Call 503-469-9137 for more information.
