Bucs QB Griese Leaves Game Against Broncos

POSTED: 6:06 pm PDT October 5, 2008

(Sports Network) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Brian Griese left in the third quarter of Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Denver Broncos with a shoulder injury.

Griese, who was drafted by Denver in the third round of the 1998 draft, was driven into the ground by a Broncos defender late in the third quarter. He went to the sidelines to be evaluated while favoring his shoulder and did not return.

The Michigan product, who will be further examined Monday, had won all three of his starts prior to the game.

Jeff Garcia, who hadn't played since a lackluster Week 1 performance against New Orleans, took over under center for Tampa Bay and threw a touchdown pass and an interception as the comeback effort fell just short.
