Blazers' Oden Dominates -- In Pickup Game

Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden is sidelined for the season with a knee injury.

So, why, then, did he “dominate” a game Wednesday night in Tualatin?

That’s what Blazers coach Nate McMillan wants to know.

A posting on the Basketball Forum message board said Oden had at least 8 to 10 dunks during pickup games at the 24 Hour Fitness in Tualatin.

“Honestly, I was a little concerned when his friends convinced him to play,” poster NateBishop3 said. “Images of Greg hurting himself in a meaningless pickup game swirled through my head…”

When word reached coach Nate McMillan, he wasn’t too happy. He told The Oregonian newspaper that he spoke with Oden and told him he can’t play pickup games.

Six months ago, Oden had season-ending micro-fracture knee surgery. He’s on schedule to return to the court for training camp in October.

Last May, Portland landed the coveted No. 1 draft pick -- and the opportunity to pick Oden -- despite having just a 5.3 percent chance of winning the NBA Draft's lottery. When the Blazers selected Oden, fans rushed the court at the Rose Garden during a draft day party.
