Medical examiners released the cause of death for former Portland Trail Blazer Kevin Duckworth on Wednesday.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office said that Duckworth's autopsy was completed Wednesday morning and showed that the former All-Star had died of heart failure.

The medical examiner said Duckworth's high blood pressure combined with a disease of the heart called cardiomyopathy that caused his heart to enlarge.

Duckworth was found in a hotel room in Lincoln City not breathing on Monday and the 44-year-old was pronounced dead.

He had been on the Oregon coast to help host a free basketball clinic for children, and had been scheduled to take part in the clinic Tuesday.

The Blazers organization said that Duckworth's death is a "devastating loss."

The Trail Blazers, along with the Duckworth family, will be holding a memorial service for Kevin Duckworth at the Memorial Coliseum, adjacent to the Rose Garden Arena, at 300 N. Winning Way in Portland.

All fans are invited to join Kevin's family, friends, current and former Trail Blazers personnel, as well as several of Duck's former teammates to pay their respects on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m.
