POSTED: 12:32 am PDT April 16, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Thunder announced Wednesday that interim head coach Scott Brooks will be retained as the coach of Oklahoma City.

"We are excited to have a head coach in Scott Brooks who believes in our philosophies and consistently leads with those values," Thunder executive vice president and general manager Sam Presti said. "He has a passion to help our players develop, continue to foster accountability and selfless play, and has the ability to communicate with every player on our roster."

Brooks, who was named interim coach on November 22 of this season, led the team to a 22-47 record in his first jaunt as a head coach.

The UC-Irvine product has spent six seasons as an assistant coach with the Thunder (2007-2008), Denver (2003-2006) and Sacramento (2006-2007) following an 11-year playing career with seven different teams, including Philadelphia, Minnesota, Houston, Dallas, New York and Cleveland.
