Seahawks Bring Back LB Hill With Multi-Year Deal

POSTED: 6:02 pm PDT April 30, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with linebacker Leroy Hill on a multi-year contract just three days after rescinding his franchise tag, making him a free agent.

It was a strategic move for the Seahawks, who freed up an extra $8.3 million in cap space and went out and signed free agent cornerback Ken Lucas and fullback Justin Griffith to one-year deals the following day. Terms of Hill's new extended deal were not disclosed.

Hill, taken by Seattle with a third-round selection in the 2005 draft out of Clemson, registered 84 tackles, one sack and three passes defensed in 12 games last season for Seattle.

Over his four seasons in the NFL, all with Seattle, Hill has appeared in 56 games, totaling 330 tackles and 13 1/2 sacks.
