Ducks RB LaMichael James To Change Plea
UO Player Originally Pleaded Not Guilty To Assault Charges

EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon Ducks star running back LaMichael James is scheduled to change his plea Friday in a Eugene courtroom.Springfield police arrested James, 20, last month on two counts of assault and two counts of physical harassment. The charges stemmed from an allegation that he grabbed his girlfriend's neck during an argument and pushed her to the ground.The woman did not require hospitalization after the Feb. 15 incident outside a Springfield apartment complex, a police spokesman said.James originally pleaded not guilty last month, but a Lane County court clerk confirmed that he is slated to change his plea and be sentenced at 8:30 a.m. Friday in Eugene. James' teammate, quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, is will also appear in court Friday on burglary charges.James has not yet been punished by the University of Oregon's football program."I am carefully considering the latest news concerning Jeremiah Masoli and LaMichael James, and will make a decision regarding disciplinary action on Friday, March 12," Coach Chip Kelly said.James was the Ducks' premier player on offense in 2009. He ran for 1,546 yards over the course of the season. That total is the most ever by a Pac-10 conference freshman.
