The Portland Timbers scored a 1-0 win Thursday night over the Seattle Sounders in front of a crowd of 18,606 at Qwest Field.

Forward O.J. Obatola, who has not yet been officially named to the Timbers' roster, scored the exhibition game's lone goal late in the first half.

The "Community Shield" match raised $75,000 for Seattle-area charities.

The Sounders joined Major League Soccer in 2009.

Seattle and Portland will fully renew their rivalry when the Timbers join MLS in 2011.

For now, the Timbers will continue tuning up for the upcoming USL season. Their next preseason match comes March 20 when they face the San Jose Earthquakes, another Major League Soccer team.
