Advise clients on marketing and advertising strategies, develop new television accounts, negotiate advertising rates, and professionally convey the benefits of television advertising on a network affiliate.
Minimum Qualifications – All must be met to be considered.
Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years successful media sales experience and/or related sales/marketing experience. A marketing/advertising background along with a college degree is preferred. Must be proficient with the following software: Wide Orbit, Marketron TV Sales, Scarborough, CMR, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Ability to work well under extreme pressure.
Comfortable making presentations for large and small groups.

Must consistently prospect for new business and monitor competitive media.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assess the advertising revenue potential of assigned television and non-television accounts.
Utilize available published information about each assigned or prospective advertiser and their industry in order to be able to approach that advertiser with an educated sensitivity.
Meet with that advertiser to inquire about their marketing needs.
Convey advertisers' marketing needs to sales management, research, production and/or promotion in order to design a presentation as to how the station can fulfill those needs with a television schedule, commercial concept and/or promotional event.
Make the presentation to the advertiser's key decision makers in written and/or visual form.
Determine objections to material presented to advertiser and attempts to make necessary revisions.
Collect all pertinent information regarding the piece of business that is pending. Negotiates with a focus on rating points, rates and inventory status.
Present the station in a positive light and stands behind all station decisions.
Know the competition and has complete knowledge of the market. Uses this knowledge to KPDX's advantage.
Place a priority on the sale of special inventory and/or marketing events that the station management determines to be of extra importance to increasing audience.
Pursue and generates new business on a monthly basis.
Adhere to station's credit and collection policies and procedures.
Maintain required sales management reports in a comprehensive and timely manner.
Actively participate in all sales training exercises in order to increase personal and team performance.
Work cohesively with all other departments including marketing and research.
Resell pre-empts and program changes in a timely fashion.
Sell specials, sports and other OTO programming.
Responsible for new business development.
Any other tasks which may be required as requested by your supervisor.
