Back in the 1990s, he worked as a reporter and then a morning anchor for KIRO-TV in Seattle.Wayne has been in broadcasting for 30 years. He started his career in 1979 while in high school by becoming a disc jockey and sports announcer for KTIP-AM, a small radio station in central California.After graduating from San Diego State University, Wayne became the afternoon drive news anchor for KMJ radio in Fresno, then eventually moved into television, reporting and anchoring for stations in Fresno (KJEO), Seattle (KIRO), Los Angeles (KCAL) and Phoenix (KPHO) before finding his favorite job here in Portland.Wayne has been honored with two Edward R. Murrow Regional Awards for his anchoring and for a documentary he wrote and hosted on the Hantavirus.Wayne is also an accomplished reporter and has won several Emmy and Los Angeles Golden Mike awards for his live spot news coverage, feature reporting, cultural issues reporting and economic reporting.Wayne is active in the community, hosting charity events and speaking to schools. He is married and has two young daughters and a dog that chases racquet balls perpetually. Wayne enjoys camping in Oregon with his family in their 1979 VW bus.Wayne is an avid college football fan and closely follows his Aztecs, which may explain his surly moods on the day after most SDSU games. Wayne is also a big Timbers fan and attends most matches when he’s not working. And, yes, to confirm some of those rumors out there, Wayne is a Parrothead, having been to more than a dozen Jimmy Buffett concerts.Wayne likes to cook and barbecue, and enjoys spicy foods and the excellent cuisine and drink found in Portland. In fact, you might find Wayne sampling the many exotic flavors of Portland’s food cart scene any given afternoon."I love the Portland area.
