Oregon wildlife officials may kill another wolf

Posted: Updated:

The death of a calf has caused state wildlife officials to consider killing another wolf from the Imnaha pack.

Authorities with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife have confirmed that a 300-pound calf found dead Sunday was killed by a wolf.

The incident happened on private property northeast of Joseph.

Two other livestock attacks took place in the same area last month, and wildlife officials responded by killing two wolves from the Imnaha pack.

They said taking action when wolves kill livestock, and when non-lethal measures have been exhausted, will actually increase public support for maintaining the population in the long run.
