Abduction Attempt Reported In Aumsville 6-11-2011

Police are investigating an attempted abduction of a 10-year-old boy at an Aumsville playground.
“I was scared and worried that he was going to take me home and kidnap me,” said Jordan Anderson.
Jordan said he was riding his bike home from a friend’s house near Aumsville Elementary School on Thursday, taking his usual shortcut through the school’s playground, when he noticed a man walking after him.
Jordan felt uncomfortable, so he began pedaling faster, but said the man starting jogging after him.
“He started saying ‘Get back here, get back here, I’ll take you home’ and stuff like that,” Jordan said. “He said, ‘Let me take you home,’ like, to his house.”
He saw an Aumsville police car drive by and pedaled toward it while the man took off.
Jordan said he’s still a bit scared after what happened. He said he was out later than he should have been and plans to get home on time from now on.
He said other kids should do the same.
And if a stranger does approach, he advised, “If you have a bike, you should either ride away fast or if you’re on your feet, run.”
Jordan said the man who chased him was a white man in his 30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and was around 300 pounds. He was wearing a gray baseball hat, red jacket and dirty blue jeans.
If you know the man, call Aumsville police at 503-749-2188.
