Oregon trash transformed into art

Posted: Updated:

An Oregon artist is turning beach trash into treasures.

Angela Haseltine Pozzi and a team of volunteers have collected 7,000 lbs. of garbage from Oregon's coastline to create what they call The Washed Ashore Community Art Project.

The group has made large sculptures of marine life including a large fish, a harbor seal and even a turtle out of trash.

They hope the project will show what they call the "pretty ugly truth" about ocean trash, and hope to inspire people to change their recycling habits.

The Washed Ashore project is based in Bandon, OR.

The exhibit is on display at The Marine Mammal Center in the Bay Area until Oct. 15.
